  • Moringa

    Here in the Philippines, it is commonly called Malunggay in Tagalog and Kamunggay in Cebuano. Almost all of its plant parts have various important applications in the industrial, pharmaceutical and food industries. The plant roots are used as natural medicines for many people. Its bark and seed pods are a good source for dyes and tannins. Its leaves, stems and twigs are used as animal feeds. But the most important of all its plant parts is its seeds.

  • What are the health benefits of moringa?

    Scientific research confirms that these humble leaves are a powerhouse of nutritional value. Gram for gram, moringa leaves contain: SEVEN times the vitamin C in oranges, FOUR times the Calcium in milk, FOUR times the vitamin A in carrots, TWO times the protein in milk and THREE times the Potassium in bananas.

  • Why is moringa called the “Miracle Tree”?

    Moringa leaves and pods when taken in regularly, will nourish the body with necessary vitamins and minerals. All parts of the moringa tree including leaves, pods, bark, seed, fruits and root has medicinal value. Hence, it was called the ‘Miracle Tree.’

  • 5th Moringa Congress

    The recently concluded 5th Moringa Congress held last Nov 21-22, 2013 at Mimosa Convention Hall in Clark, Pampanga was attended by some 300 participants coming from nearby provinces and the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

  • 1st International Symposium on Moringa

    In partnership with the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), the World Vegetable Center (AVRDC) and Central Philippine University (CPU), the MPFI hosted successfully the first ever International Symposium on Moringa at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria last November 15 to 18, 2015. It was attended by local and foreign delegates from 36 countries.

Bright future of moringa plant discussed in national congress held in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Nov. 15 — Moringa Oleifera (scientific name of the Filipino malunggay) took center stage during the 4th National Moringa Congress at Sison Auditorium here today (Thursday), attended by about 2,000 stakeholders of the moringa industry from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The congress under the theme "Malungay for health and wealth", was organized by the Moringaling Philippine Foundation Inc., headed by Fr. Resty Lumanlan, also president of the Moringa Green Gold Company.

The forum discussed the future of the industry and the measures that need to be done in the light of the increasing demand for moringa in the local and export markets.
